  12.     My friend just got a new USR Sportster 28.8(with a label of
  13. 33.6K on the box) modem.  I tested the modem with a BBS, everything
  14. worked fine, the transfer speed is at around 3150cps.  However when
  15. I tried to use my modem which is a Cardinal 28.8i (ROM version 1.4),
  16. the connection is good 26400 or 28800, but the transfer speed is
  17. horrible.  300 cps or even lower.  Just wondering if this is a known
  18. problem between Sportster and Cardinal(i myself have never encounted
  19. such problem), so I would guess it might be his initial string(I did
  20. not have time to set up a good initial string, just use the defaults
  21. plus the speed dial option).
